From the free first chapter

Napoleon Hill (1883–1970) is one of the best-known self-help writers in the world. His Think and Grow Rich came out in 1937. The next year, in 1938, he wrote another manuscript, later titled Outwitting the Devil. But it wasn’t published at the time.

The reason was its content. In it, Hill sharply criticised the schools of his day and the way preachers used fear. His wife, Annie Lou, feared a fierce backlash if it came out. So the manuscript sat untouched for decades. Finally, in 2011, the Napoleon Hill Foundation published it, with notes and commentary by Sharon Lechter, co-author of Rich Dad Poor Dad.
