From the free first chapter
In the early 1970s, Michael A. Singer was working on a PhD in economics at the University of Florida. That's when he had a deep moment of insight: he realized he was not the voice that kept talking inside his head. After that he threw himself into meditation and yoga, and went to live quietly at the edge of the woods.
In 1975 he founded a meditation center called the Temple of the Universe. Later he also built a large company that made software for doctors. So he's no hermit in a mountain cave. He practiced inner freedom in the middle of a busy life. The Untethered Soul, published in 2007, distills that practice.
